Barnett, was born January 10, 1831, in New Castle, Indiana, and died April 7, 1906. He was married to Miss Hannah Louisa Hawthorn (sic), March 11, 1858. The deceased leaves a wife, one son, Arthur, of this city; and two daughters, Mrs. Charles Darnell, Brighton, and Mrs. Eli Harper, of this city. Seven grandchildren and six great grandchildren, besides two sisters, Mrs. Adaline Morgan, of Clay and Mrs. Emmaline Mercer, of Fountain City, Indiana, also survive the deceased. The funeral services were held at the residence by Rev. F. C. Behner, pastor of the Free Methodist church of this city. ----------- There is also an obituary for John E. Barnett in the Brighton-Enterprise, published on April 14, 1906. Pg. 4, Col. 7. This contributor does not have easy access to that newspaper on microfilm, but it can most likely be found in the microfilm records at the Washington Public Library, Washington, Iowa. ----------- Children: > Francis Arthur Barnett > Clara Bell Barnett Harper > Alice Barnett Darnell ( March 24, 1859 - Dec. 8, 1933), is buried in Ames cemetery in Story county, Iowa.
