Rep. 13 Feb. 1936 John Burkhalter John Burkhalter, the son of Horace and Nannie Burkhalter was born at Bellesville, Mo., January 20, 1886 and passed away at his home near Selma, Iowa, Jan. 11, 1936, aged 49 years, 11 months and 21 days. He was married Dec. 30, 1914 to Emma Schleeter, of Saver, Mo. To this union two sons were born, Martin Wallace and John ???, both of Selma, who with their mother survive. Mr. Burkhalter moved to the Selma community sixteen years ago, where he was a respected farmer. For the past three years he has served as a member of the board of education of the Selma Consolidated school district. Funeral services were held Tuesday, Jan. 14 at the Zion Lutheran church, east of Douds, in charge of the Rev. C.M. Orcutt, of Douds. Burial was in the cemetery near the church. Source: Van Buren Co.
