Leeds was born in Tell City, Indiana, April 11, 1866, and passed away May 4, 1937, at his home in Nelson. He leaves his wife Berta, his son Earl and two grand sons, John and Dick of Trenton, and one brother, Ed of Nelson. He came to Nebraska as a lad of ten years and his home at Nelson, or thereabouts dates back fifty-four years. He was an expert stock buyer and he rode the prairie roads in this capacity for many years, being as expert in the riding of his horse as in his buying profession. He was a great lover of children. It is only a year ago that we saw him carrying a May basket to a little two-year-old boy in East Nelson the child of a neighbor of the former year. A friend to all of them, they returned his greetings with the friendly salutation, "Hello, John!" The funeral service was held in the Klawitter Mortuary with Rev. V.R. Daniels presiding. Mrs. W.L. Portwood sang, Just Beyond the Vale of Years, and God's Tomorrow, with Mrs. H.H. Hite accompanying at the piano. Many old friends were present at the service. The burial was in Nelson cemetery (sic).
