Read More	From Nevada Evening Journal September 28, 1906 (front page) JOHN FERGUSON DIES LAST NIGHT A Stroke of Paralysis the Immediate Cause of Death. John Ferguson, a well known resident of near Iowa Center in pioneer days, died last night at the home of his son-in-law, Arthur Hempstock, south of town. He came out from Chicago some time ago and was not well, having suffered a stroke of paralysis during the month of July. About a week ago he had another stroke which has been followed by two of three others since. He was the father of large family of children, who are widely distributed over the country, some being in Chicago, Dakota, California and other parts. One son lives near Boone. A daughter, Mrs Alva Hoskins, who lives in Dakota, arrived last evening, just previous to the death of the father. Arrangements for the funeral have not been made as yet. From Nevada Representative September 28, 1906 Mr. John Ferguson died this morning at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Arthur Hemstock, after an illness of two or three weeks. Mr. Ferguson was one the early settlers in Polk county adjoining Story, and for many years more or less identified with the people and interests of the south part of the county. In years gone by he was a steady patron of the county fair and friendly with our people. For the past few years his home has been with his children here, in Chicago and California. He will be mourned by his family and kindly remembered by old friends and acquaintances. From Story County Watchman October 4, 1906 John Ferguson of near Iowa Center, a pioneer resident of Story county, died last Thursday evening at the home of his son-in-law, Arthur Hempstock. SUBMITTER'S NOTE: Arthur V. Hemstock was married to John and Sarah (Snyder) Ferguson's daughter, Martha Millicent Ferguson, on 21 February 1894 in Story County, Iowa.
