Mahoney, 70, a native Nebraskan, died at his home in Wichita, Kansas Sunday after a short illness. Born in Bruno, Neb. In 1875, he lived there until 1903 when he moved to Palmyra. He farmed near Palmyra for a few year before moving into town and entering the grocery business. He was a postmaster for 12 years. Following his marriage in 1923 he went to Tampa, Florida, for about two years, later returning to Palmyra in 1925 where he was engaged in the lumber business. In January of 1943 he moved to Wichita where he was employed in government work. He was an active member of the Catholic Church. Surviving are his wife Mary Roach Mahoney; one daughter, Mrs. Don Baker, a sister, Mrs. C. F. Leppert of Omaha; two brothers,Will of David City, and Jim of Lincoln, several nieces, nephews and cousins. Funeral services were held Wednesday morning at 9:30 in St. Leo's Catholic Church, Rev. J. M. Kozlik of Palmyra and Rev. J. A. Kean of Shelby officiated. Burial was at Palmyra. Active Pallbearers included: J. A. Gronouski, William Broderick, Hugh Beecham, Jack Donovan, Charles Dorman and Leslie Biggs. Honorary Pallbearers: Charles Morrell, Charles Brinkman, Dick Nash, Harry Slosson, A. J. Lamborn, J. Lonam, Edward Pump, Will Morrell, Herman Brinkman, John Broderick, Ed Wallen, Guy McKee, Floyd Copes and William Royal.
