Description	:	Obituary John Francis Kelley was born September 9, 1878 to William and Della Kelley, in Lincoln County, Kansas and died at his home northwest of Colony, June 20, 1936 at the age of 57 years, 9 months, and 11 days. In 1880 he moved with his parents to Pawnee County, Nebraska where he grew to manhood. On September 30, 1897 he was united in marriage to Miss Lola Maude Story. In 1880 he moved with his parents to Pawnee County, Nebraska where he grew to manhood. On September 30, 1897 he was united in marriage to Miss Lola Maude Story. To this union were born four children: Harold Albert, Florence Helen, Virgil Leroy (Bob), and Harry Laverne (Ted). In 1899, Mr. and Mrs. Kelley moved to Smith County, Kansas. In 1908 they moved to Neosho County, and in 1915 the moved to their home northwest of Colony where he lived until his death. He leaves to mourn his departure, his wife, his four children, twelve grandchildren, two brothers, Albert and Ralph Kelley. ~~~ John Francis Kelley, farmer residing west and north of Colony, died suddenly at his home Saturday morning. Mr. Kelley had done his chores, eaten breakfast and visited, when suddenly his heart failed. Although he had been suffering from heart trouble for some time, his condition was not considered dangerous, and consequently his death came as a surprise. Interview with granddaughter, Ruth Payton Anastas: He told his wife that he felt tired, went in the house to lay down, and he died. [He had low blood pressure.] Sheila Anastas visit with granddaughter, Evelyn Kelley Tait June 19, 2007: Francis and Lola came by covered wagon from Pawnee City to Parsons. (However census records indicate they first were in White Rock, Smith Co., KS after coming from Nebraska. I had always heard they came from Pawnee City to Smith Co., by covered wagon.) Lola went to check on the livestock. John laid on the divan and when she came back, he was gone. Sheila Anastas phone conversation with granddaughter, Pauline Kelley Alexander 12/6/2007: Agnes Constable Kelley told Pauline that John Francis was a part time minister in winter, and farmed in summer. Pauline said her brother Johnny was outside the bedroom window with Lola discovered John Francis dead. He said Grandma was trying to wake him up and heard her say "Oh, he's dead", and told Johnny not to look in the window.
