The Rev. Paul Kleinfelder was celebrant of the requiem high mass and burial was in the parish cemetery. Mr. Keifer, a well known and highly respected man, had seemed in his usual health and died without warning while sitting in a chair at home. He was born June 17, 1881 in East Lancaster township, and was a son of Jacob and Catherine Greiner Kiefer. He was educated at Saints Peter and Paul's school and on February 10, 1903, was married to Catherine Redlinger at the Clear Creek Church. Their married life was spent in the Talleyrand community and Mr. Kiefer had been proprietor of the Talleyrand store for the past 23 years. Surviving are his wife; his nine children, Leo, Zeno, William, Clarence and Raymond, all of the Talleyrand community, Clifford of Rock Island, Illinois, Paul of Waukegan, Illinois, Sister M. Paulette of Fremont, Nebraska, and Mrs. Ruth Hammes of Sigourney; 18 grandchildren; one sister, Mrs. George Reighard of Pleasant Plain and one brother, Peter of What Cheer. Preceding him in death were his brother, Jake, and two sisters, Mrs. Wendel Horras and Mrs. Nick Fritchen.
