The son of Matthew and Kathrine Matousek, he was born May 7, 1881 at Bacyce, Czechoslovakia. He came to the St. Paul vicinity with his parents when he was seven years old and lived on the family homestead east of St. Paul until his marriage. He was married to Stacia Lanka on May 4, 1909. His health failed in 1948 and the following year they purchased a home and moved to St. Paul. Surviving, in addition to his wife, are three daughters, Mrs. Venice Scarborough and Mrs. Gladys Vincek, both of St. Paul, and Mrs. Stacia Placzek, Grand Island; four children; three brothers, Frank of Omaha, and Joseph and Louis of Grand Island; and three sisters, Mrs. Edward Ewers, Grand Island, Mrs. Frank Ambros, Elba, and Mrs. Andy Ambroz, St. Paul.
