Description	:	obit courtesy of [email protected] Mathew Matousek was born at Symlovic, Bohemia (Smilovice, Czech Republic), Feb. 24, 1854 and passed away at the home of his son, Louis Matousek, near St. Paul, April 16, 1937, at the age of 83 years, 1 month and 23 days. His death was caused by pneumonia, having been ill only about a week. Mr. Matousek grew to manhood in his native country and on Nov. 24, 1877 he was married to Katherine Kolar. His death was caused by pneumonia, having been ill only about a week. Mr. Matousek grew to manhood in his native country and on Nov. 24, 1877 he was married to Katherine Kolar. Seven children were born to this union and with his aged companion survive him. They are Frank of Omaha, John, Joe, and Louie Matousek of St. Paul, Mrs. Andy Ambrose of St. Paul, Mrs. Frank Ambrose of Elba, and Mrs. E. J. Ewers of St. Paul. Mr. Matousek is also survived by 22 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren and a host of friends. Mr. and Mrs. Matousek and their family came to America in 1888, coming directly to Howard County and settling on a farm near St. Paul. They continued the vocation of farming until recent years. Mr. Matousek was known as a good husband and father, a fine neighbor and a good citizen. His loss will be keenly felt by his family and friends. Funeral services were conducted from the St. Peter and Paul Church in St. Paul, Monday at nine o’clock a.m., with the Rev. John Gleeson officiating. The pall bearers were John Iwanski, Stanley Iwanski, Joe Sack, Charles Tenopir, Joe Blaha, and Mr. Durzjek. Interment was made in the St. Peter and Paul Cemetery.
