HE LIVED BUT A FEW HOURS Sleeve Caught Fire and He Ran from House Before Parents Could Stop Him.— Clothing Burned from Body. John Franklin Isenberger, 5 year old son of Mr. and Mrs. W. S. Isenberger of Lucas, was fatally burned Saturday noon when his clothing caught fire from a stove into which he was putting papers. He was brought to the Harken hospital but his injuries were of such a nature that it was certain he could not recover. The little fellow had been putting papers in the stove and watching them burn. His parents had warned him of the danger and supposed he had stopped. As nearly as can be learned no one was in the room at the time of the accident and the first the parents knew he had run screaming from the house. When they reached him the wind had whipped the flames so that his clothing was practically burned off. He was wrapped in a coat and quickly taken to the drug store where it was found that the flames had seared a large portion of his body. Swathed in cotton he was rushed to the Harken hospital here and medical attention was given the little fellow. It was certain from the first, however, that he could not recover and death came to relieve the little lad's suffering that evening. Funeral services were held at Fremont church Sunday afternoon by Rev. Williamson of the M. P. church here. It was one of those terrible happenings which occasionally befall children in spite of all the care that parents may take. Tragedies to little tots are much more distressing than those to grown-ups. They are victims of things of which they know nothing. Experimenting with the things they find new in their world they are cut down before they learn of the dangers confronting them. Life is made up of taboos; things which we must not do. What a pity it seems that the human race may not be endowed with instincts that will make us avoid elemental dangers.
