OBITUARY: John Sidel, Jr. John Sidel, Jr., was born at Warsaw, Nebraska on July 16, 1910 to John and Mary Siegel Sidel, Sr. His death occurred at his home in Aurora, Nebraska on June 21, 1978 at the age of 67 years, 11 months and 5 days. He spent his childhood in the vicinity of his birth and received his education in the public schools of that vicinity. At an early age he was baptized and confirmed in the Catholic Faith. On June 21, 1934 he was united in marriage to Litta Lundy at Grand Island. They farmed in the vicinity of Farwell and Pleasanton, later moving to Ravenna, Nebraska, where he served on the police force. In 1956 they moved to Bradshaw, where he worked for the city. In 1958 they came to Aurora where he and his wife operated a service station and café. Later he joined the Police Department in Aurora. The past 12 years he was employed by the Overland Sand and Gravel Company. Earlier this year he was forced to retire because of his health. He was preceded in death by his parents, one son, Charles Robert, two daughters, Barbara Ann and Loretta, one sister, Anna Sidel in her infancy and three grandchildren. His survivors are his wife, Litta; one son, Marvin and his wife Marva of Richland, Nebraska; one daughter Norma Jean and her husband Warren Griepenstroh of Nebraska City, Nebraska; two brothers, Steven Sidel of Nebraska City, Nebraska and Ernest of St. Paul, Nebraska; five sisters, Mrs. Margaret Pogorelski of Ravenna, Nebraska, Mrs. Irene Kizior of Farwell, Nebraska, Mrs. Geneveve Hurt of Boelus, Nebraska, Mrs. Velma Nesiba of Ravenna, Nebraska and Mrs. Erma Kalinowski of Cairo, Nebraska; six grandchildren; several nieces and nephews and other relatives and close friends.
