She was born Norma Jean Sidel on January 29, 1942 at Percival, IA; the daughter of John F. and Litta L. (Lundy) Sidel. She was united in marriage to Lawrence Eugene Nuss in 1960 in Maryville, MO. She was born Norma Jean Sidel on January 29, 1942 at Percival, IA; the daughter of John F. and Litta L. (Lundy) Sidel. She was united in marriage to Lawrence Eugene Nuss in 1960 in Maryville, MO. The couple moved to Nebraska City in 1969 to manage the former Town and Country Store on south 11th Street in Nebraska City. On March 3, 1976 at a very young age, her husband Lawrence passed away. She later married Warren Griepenstroh in 1977. He also preceded her in death. Jean was an avid cook and baker and owned and operated Jean's Desserts in Nebraska City for many years. She was very well known for her delicious pies and she supplied pies to the orchards during numerous Applejack seasons. She enjoyed golf - winning many tournaments with ladies teams, gardening - especially her roses, cross stitching, sewing, crafting, dolls and knitting. Christmas was her favorite holiday as she welcomed many into her home to share her handmade decorations and trimming. She also enjoyed watching football and golf events and was an active pool player and card player. She was very fond of her bulldog Mugsy, but spending time with her family was her greatest love. She was a member of the Eagles Auxiliary and the United Methodist Church. She is survived by her two sons: Larry Nuss and wife Carol of Gladstone, MO and Jerry Nuss and wife Vickie of Nebraska City; eight grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren and a brother Marvin Sidel of Richland, NE. In addition to her husbands, she was preceded in death by three infant daughters and her dear and special friend Ralph Klein. Funeral Services for Jean Griepenstroh will be held Tuesday morning at 10:30 a.m. at the Gude Mortuary in Nebraska City with Rev. Jeff Kelley officiating. Burial will be in the Aurora Cemetery at Aurora, NE on Tuesday at 3:00 p.m. The family will greet friends from 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Monday at Gude Mortuary. Memorials may be given to the American Cancer Society.
