He was born August 2, 1883, and was the oldest child of Douglas and Mattie McRoberts. He lived in Webber, Kansas, and Holdrege, Nebraska, before moving to Shelton in 1937. Until 1952, he had been a blacksmith in Shelton at which time he sold out to Ralph Schepers. He was preceded in death by his wife and one infant daughter, Florence. Survivors include his children: Lenora, Hal, Paul, John Gordon, Bill, Bert and Shirley; sisters Irby and Shirley; 22 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 10 AM Monday in the Methodist Church in Shelton with Reverend Lowen Kruse officiating. Visitation hours are from 7 to 9 PM Sunday at the Amos Funeral Home in Shelton.
