He was a life-long resident of Monterey, born June 15, 1916. He was the loving father of Roderic (Irene) Martin of Nakusp, British Columbia, Canada and Pamela (Theodore) Davalos of Richmond; beloved grandfather of Heather, Alison, Trent and Brett. Martin June 15, 1916 ~ August 6, 2006 MONTEREY – John Fredrick Martin, age 90, passed away August 6, 2006 at Community Hospital. He was a life-long resident of Monterey, born June 15, 1916. He was the loving father of Roderic (Irene) Martin of Nakusp, British Columbia, Canada and Pamela (Theodore) Davalos of Richmond; beloved grandfather of Heather, Alison, Trent and Brett. Mr. Martin was preceded in death by his devoted wife, Evelyn in 1994. Mr. Martin was a graduate of Monterey High School Class of 1933, University of California at Berkeley Class of 1937 and UC Berkeley School of Law 1940. Mr. Martin enjoyed a distinguished career as a practicing attorney for over 65 years as a member of Hudson, Martin, Ferrante & Street. Mr. Martin joined the firm in 1940 and retired in 2005. He was the dean of Probate Lawyers for the County of Monterey. He was a member of the American College of Trust and Estate Attorneys and various State of California Bar Association groups. He was active in many social and charitable organizations, in particular the Boy Scouts of America and was also a member of the El Estero Presbyterian Church in Monterey. Mr. Martin was a man of great compassion and understanding and was generous with his advice and counsel to his many clients, friends and constituents. He will be missed by his family and his many friends and clients. Memorial Services will be held Tuesday, August 22, 2006 at 10:00am at the Little Chapel by the Sea in Pacific Grove. Inurnment will be private in El Carmelo Cemetery. Memorials in memory of Mr. Martin may be made to the Boy Scouts of America. Arrangements are by The Paul Mortuary of Pacific Grove.
