Kerr, a resident of Tyndall for the past four years, died last Saturday, April 29 at the hospital in Yankton where he had been a patient since April 3 when he suffered a stroke. A prayer service, in charge of the Rev. J. H. Dirks, was held at the Kostel Funeral home Tuesday morning at 10 o'clock. Mrs. H. D. Posey sang a solso, with Mrs. J. H. Dirks as her accompanist. Immediately following this service the body was taken to Spencer, Nebr., where funeral services were held from the Methodist church of that city, also in charge of Rev. Dirks. Interment was at that place. Accompanying Mrs. Kerr and her son John, to Spencer, Neb., were Mrs. C. E. Jones and Rev. Dirks. John F. Kerr was born March 25, 1867 near Salem, Lee County, Iowa, the son of G. A Kerr and Deborah Clark. He came to Nebraska with his parents in 1880 w hen they settled on a farm six miles north of Monroe. Here he was married on May 9, 1888 (sic) to Clara Van Allen of that community. To this union four children were born. In 1898 the Kerr family moved to Gregory County where they homsteaded. They lived t here until July 17, 1940 w hen they moved to Tyndall where they have since m ade their home. Mr. Kerr is survived by his wife, Clara and by two sons, Clark of Seattle, Washington and John of Moline, Ill., and one daughter Florence (Mrs. John Monfore) of Portland, Oregon. There are also twelve grandchildren and twelve great grandchildren. A daughter, Leila May (sic), preceded her father in death 17 years ago, April 14, 1927. John Kerr, of Moline, Ill., was the only one of the children who were able to be present for the funeral services. He returned to his home Wednesday of this week.
