He had been in failing health the past year, his death being attributed to the frailties of age. Mr. Huegerich was a retired employe of the Chicago & North Western Railway company. Assisting priests will he the Rt. Rev. Monsignor P.T. Lynch, the Rev. Father Arthur S. Poickes and the Rev. Father Otmar Koester. Burial will be beside his wife in the family lot in SS. Peter and Paul's cemetery. Mr. Huegerich was born Jan. 6, 1856 at Stechendorf, Oberfranken, Germany, one of a family of six children. In 1880, at the age of 24 years, he emigrated to this country, locating in Carroll county. His brother, George Huegerich, came here later. The other members of the family, three sisters and one brother, remained in Germany. George Huegerich died several years ago. With the exception of nine years at Halbur, Mr. Huegerich had lived in Carroll since 1880. He was married Nov. 9, 1880, to Miss Mary Ann Halbig at St. Joseph's church. Surviving are two sons and three daughters: F.J. Huegerich, Omaha; J.E. Huegerich, St Paul; Mrs V.H. Olerich (Anna), Breda; Mrs. E.B. Dopheide (Mayme), Sioux City, and Mrs. Andy G. Ley (Josephine), Carroll. Mr. Huegerich had lived with Mr. and Mrs. Ley since the death of his wife. He also leaves three grandsons: Donald Huegerich, Cleveland, Ohio; Paul Huegerich, Holstein; Ray C. Huegerich, Omaha; one granddaughter, Mrs. John J. Riordan (Eileen Wermerskirchen), Minneapolis, Minn., and two great grandchildren: John Patrick and Mary Jean Riordan. Besides his wife, Mr. Huegerich was preceded in death by a son, George W., and daughter, Mrs. J. M. Wermerskirchen (Dorothy). After retiring from active railroad employ, Mr. Huegerich had worked in his garden and yard until the past year, when ill health forbade. He was a member of SS. Peter and Paul's church and the Holy name society of the parish.
