Description	:	John G. Zeller was born at Lewiston, Wis., June 18, 1860, and passed away at St. Luke’s hospital, Aberdeen, on Wednesday, Jan. 11, 1950, at the age of 89 years 6 months and 23 days. Mr. Zeller was one of the early pioneers of Brown county, coming to the Groton community in 1882. In June, 1885, he was united in marriage to Anna Zamzow, who preceded him in death last July 11th. He was a life-long member of the Evangelical church and after the discontinuance of that denomination in Groton, was a regular attendant of the Presbyterian church. Always interested in civic... Mr. Zeller was one of the early pioneers of Brown county, coming to the Groton community in 1882. In June, 1885, he was united in marriage to Anna Zamzow, who preceded him in death last July 11th. He was a life-long member of the Evangelical church and after the discontinuance of that denomination in Groton, was a regular attendant of the Presbyterian church. Always interested in civic affairs, he served as county commissioner, director of the Groton Farmers Elevator Co., and vice president of the Groton-Ferney Mutual Telephone Co. The deceased is survived by one son, Leonard, of Aberdeen, a daughter, Clara of Groton; three grandsons; three great grandchildren; three brother, William of Portage, Wis.; Ben of Carrington, N. D., and Matt of Spring Valley, Minn.; three sisters, Mrs. Elizabeth Siewert and Mrs. L. G. Schmid of Barlow, N. D., and Mrs. Wm. Weyh of Baraboo, Wis., besides a number of other relatives. Funeral services were held Sunday afternoon, Jan. 15, at the Presbyterian church, with the Rev. Sam Beamesderfer officiating. Earl Carlson of Aberdeen, accompanied by Mrs. Carlson sang two solos. Interment was in the family lot in Groton Union cemetery. Pall bearers were: Jack Johnson, Clayton Deitz, Vern Naeve, Fred Frommel, Lyle Clocksene and Darrell Clocksene. Relatives attending the last rites from a distance were: Mr. and Mrs. L. G. Schmid and John Schunid of Barlow, N. D.; Chester Schmid of New Rockford, N. D.; Frances Kaal of Carrington, N. D.; W. T. Zeller of Britton, S. D.; Mrs. And Mrs. Paul Karlen and Nina Zeller, Hecla, S. D. Thus another pioneer has answered the last call from the thinning rank. The many friends of the highly esteemed pioneer extend deep sympathy to the family in the loss of their loved one.
