Read More	Gaffney Ledger obituary May 22, 2017 Gaffney, S.C. - John "Johnny" Garnett Barnhill, 82, went home to be with the Lord on Friday, May 19, 2017 at his residence. Born in Gaffney, he was the husband of Pawnee Hughes Barnhill and the son of the late Herbert Fay Barnhill and Ruby Mae Martin Barnhill. He was a graduate of Gaffney High School, attended North Greenville College and retired from Overnite Transportation. Mr. Barnhill was a member of First Baptist Church, where he was a Life Deacon, member of the Hopper Sunday School Class, Mission Task Force and served on many other committees. In addition to his wife, also surviving are a son, Mike Barnhill and wife, Dawn of Gaffney; two daughters, Rhonda Callison and husband, Will of Weaverville, N.C. and Kim Pettit and husband, Tim of Gaffney; six grandchildren, Megan Tyler, Jared Barnhill, Jordan Barnhill, Virginia Callison, Patricia Callison and Frank Callison; two step-grandchildren, Chase Pettit and Christopher Pettit. Mr. Barnhill was preceded in death by a brother, Herbert Barnhill; and two grandchildren, John Callison and Abby Tyler. The family will receive friends from 2:30 until 4:00 p.m. on Monday, May 22, 2017 at First Baptist Church. Funeral services will immediately follow at 4:00 p.m. at the church with Dr. Tommy Huddleston and Reverend Roy Mathis officiating. Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to: First Baptist Church, "Capital Improvement", 200 N. Limestone Street, Gaffney, S.C., 29340 or a charity of ones choice.
