Tuesday - October 21, 1941 John Baer, about 80, Rockford, Ill., father of Mrs. Philip L. Bryant, Waterloo and California resident, died early Tuesday morning at his home in Rockford after a brief illness, according to word received by Mrs. C.L. Kingsley, 416 South street. Surviving are the widow; two daughters, Mrs. Bryant and Mrs. William McDonald, Rockford, and two grandsons, John and Philip McDonald, Rockford. Mrs. Bryant is the widow of a Waterloo (Iowa) paving contractor. Since her husband's death about six years ago, she has lived in Waterloo and Los Angeles, Cal. She had been called to Rockford recently because her mother suffered a stroke. Mrs. Baer is reported recovering. Funeral for John Baer will be held in Clinton, Ia., his former home, Wednesday afternoon, with Dr. Thomas Horton, former rector of St. Mark's Episcopal church here, officiating. Burial will be at Clinton.
