Lohmeier was born in New York February 21, 1857. Died at his home in Sheridan Township, Clay County, Nebraska September 14th, 1916 at the age of 59 years, 6 months and 21 days. He went to Illinois with his parents when four years of age. Came to Nebraska in 1888 engaged in farming and has always lived on the farm. He was married in 1882. This union was blessed with Eleven children. Geo. Lohmeier, Mrs. Will Burns, John Lohmeier, Mrs. Frank Meceir, sister Rose of Lima (Emma Lohmeier (deceased) died in February 18, 1907, Helen Lohmeier, Henertta Lohmeier and Edith Lohmeier has enjoyed good health but the later years his health failed somewhat especially the last year he was affilicted (sic) with a great pain which the Doctors found to be cancer and he was forced to be absolute quiet. Yet the sickness that brought this beautiful life to a close was of a short duration. Mr. Lohmeier spent some weeks at Omaha and also at Mayo Bros. who informed the family that they could do nothing to help the sufferer and they brought him home to await the end. A halo of glory encircles the brow of the noble wife who has shown such noble traits of character in her ceaseless efforts to do a true wife's part to comfort her husband in his last hours. And the children did all they could to make the last hours pleasant, who could do more. And Mrs. Lohmeier said: "Pa never lost his patience with us." In life Mr. Lohmeier was always a patient man, a good husband, father and neighbor. Funeral was held from the Catholic church, Monday morning conducted by Father Dumphy. Interment at the Calvery (sic) Cemetery. We have a little more loneliness in life As the Dear ones pass away. A bigger claim in the Heavenly land With every passing day.
