Description	:	John Glass was the tenth child of William Glass and Maria Leenders. On 20 May 1855 he married Jane Swain, daughter of Thomas Swain, a British Royal Navy seaman and Sarah Bowers from Saint Helena. In 1856, John and Sarah with daughter Harriet left Tristan da Cunha and moved to Connecticut, USA. The 1860 United States Federal census finds John, Sarah and Harriet living with John's brother James in New London, Connecticut. Sometime between 1860 and 1867 John and Jane separate. in 1867, Jane has her first child with Daniel Loomis and in 1879 John is recorded... In 1856, John and Sarah with daughter Harriet left Tristan da Cunha and moved to Connecticut, USA. The 1860 United States Federal census finds John, Sarah and Harriet living with John's brother James in New London, Connecticut. Sometime between 1860 and 1867 John and Jane separate. in 1867, Jane has her first child with Daniel Loomis and in 1879 John is recorded as a sailor on board the schooner 'Golden West' In 1885, John married Ella Brown with whom he has two more children. He applied for and was granted Naturalisation in New London on 17 Sep 1895, his place of birth being misinterpreted as Ireland. Wife Ella died in 1895 and John and his two children, Annabel and William moved in with his sister Eliza Ford. William died in 1897.
