Obituary (Willard Times) {{John Gottlieb Ebinger was born in Kirchberg County, Marbach, Kingdom of Wurtenberg, Germany, Feb. 1st 1831. died on the home farm in Richmond Township, Sept., 1st 1911, aged 80 yrs. and 7 mo. He came to America April 16th 1856, living two years in Delaware, Ohio. He then came to Richmond Township, Huron Co., where he spent the remainder of his life. April 12, 1858, he was married to Mrs. Caroline Yeager (nee Kraft). This companion died Aug. 15, 1891. To this union no children were born. Oct. 24, 1893, he was again united in marriage to Miss Catherine Albright. He leaves to mourn his departure his faithful companion, two daughters, three grandchildren, two sisters; three brothers, other relatives and a host of friends. Funeral services were held Monday forenoon in Union Bethel Church, conducted by Rev. R. W. Steiner who delivered a beautiful sermon on the text, "What is a man that thou shouldst magnify him, and that thou shouldst set thine heart upon him? Job 7th chapter, 17th verse, Mr. Ebinger's own selection. Mr. Ebinger has passed through many hardships incident to pioneer life but was a remarkably well preserved man. For several years he has been a sufferer from rheumatism, but the illness that caused his death was contraction of the stomach. He bore his suffering with patience and fortitude; all his life he lived up to the golden rule, doing unto others as he would have others do upon him. In infancy he was baptized and at the proper age became a member of the German Lutheran Church to which he was a firm adherent in the faith up to his death. He was one of the founders of the Evangelical Lutheran Zion Church of Richmond Township and a faithful member of the I. O. O. F. Lodge, no. 197, Attica, Ohio. In his death the devoted wife looses a kind husband, the children an indulgent father, the community one of the best of the best of neighbors. Gentle, kind hearted Gottlieb is no more. May he rest in peace.}} John lived to age 80.
