Linnert, long time resident of Fillmore county, passed away at the fillmore county hospital in Geneva, Neb., September 23, 1967, aged 87 years and 9 days. He had been in poor health for some time and had been hospitalized the past few weeks. Mr. Linnert, son of Arnold and Mary Linnert, was born September 14, 1880, in Missouri. Linnert, long time resident of Fillmore county, passed away at the fillmore county hospital in Geneva, Neb., September 23, 1967, aged 87 years and 9 days. He had been in poor health for some time and had been hospitalized the past few weeks. Mr. Linnert, son of Arnold and Mary Linnert, was born September 14, 1880, in Missouri. In 1883, when John was three years old, the family moved to Fillmore county, Nebraska, and farmed many years. John continued to reside in this county the rest of his life with the exception of five years spent in Kansas. With his Mothe and brother Edward he retired and moved to Geneva and continued to live in the same home until his death. John was a devoted son and cared for his mother during her lifetime. He loved children and was always interested in the achievements of young people. He was especially fond of baseball and for many years assisted at the grounds in various capacities. For a time he operated a grocery store in Geneva. Mr. Linnert was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Fred and Edward and two sisters, Annie Kaiser and Lena Miles. He is survived by a sister, Mrs. Frank Adams of Milwaukee, Wis., and a number of nephews and nieces. Funeral services were conducted from the Kritner-Farmer Funeral Home in Geneva at 2 p.m. Tuesday, September 23, Rev. K. Orlando Lee officiating. Mrs. H. A. Rosenau sang “God Be With You” and Mrs. Melvin Olson was accompanist. Pallbearers were Marlin Domeier, Dr. L. H. Kerl, Roy Linnert, William McDonald, Carl E. Schneider and Richard Schneider. Interment was in the Geneva cemetery. CARD OF THANKS: To the many kind friends and neighbors who were so kind and gave thought and care for John H. Linnert’s needs through the years we express our thanks, also to the hospital staff, Rev. Mr Lee, the pallbearers and contributors to the memorial fund, to the American Legion.
