Description	:	Tripoli Leader, (Iowa), 4 Apr 1923 John Harker was born at Yorkshire, England, June 10, 1842, and passed from this life early Thursday morning, March 29, 1923, after an illness of several months. When he was but two years of age his parents emigrated to America and settled in Grant county, Wisconsin, where he lived until the spring of 1869, when he came to Bremer county and purchased a farm in Douglas township. Read More	Tripoli Leader, (Iowa), 4 Apr 1923 John Harker was born at Yorkshire, England, June 10, 1842, and passed from this life early Thursday morning, March 29, 1923, after an illness of several months. When he was but two years of age his parents emigrated to America and settled in Grant county, Wisconsin, where he lived until the spring of 1869, when he came to Bremer county and purchased a farm in Douglas township. On retiring in the spring of 1900 he came to Frederika which has since been his home. April 7, 1866, he was united in marriage to Miss Ruth Slack of Grant county, Wisconsin, and to them three children were born; George, their older boy, passed away May 8, 1918. The surviving children are James L. Harker and Mrs. Lydia Costello of this place. His wife preceded him in death two years ago. He is also survived by eight grandchildren and one great grandchild. One grandson, Ira J. Harker, son of James Harker gave his life for his country during the World war. Mr. Harker was a highly respected citizen who will be missed by many friends. Funeral services conducted by Rev. Martin were held Friday after, March 30, at the M. E. church. Interment was made in Alcock cemetery. Information supplied by Christa Hughes
