Description	:	John Henry Hillers, eldest son of George J, and Sophia Hillers, was born in Sangamon county, I11., near Springfield, November 14, 1883, and following a lingering Illness, died at his home at Lewiston August 16, 1942, aged 58 years, nine months and one day. November 1, 1815, he was united in marriage to Mary E. Snyder, and they began housekeeping in the new home he had erected in Lewiston, which was his home until death relieved him of his suffering. When a lad, came to Nebraska with his parents and resided on a farm in Gage county near Pickrell, going from there to Kit Carson county, Colo., where his father homesteaded. After proving up on the homestead the family returned to Pickrell for one year. They then came to Pawnee county and lived for 12 years, on the George Froler farm, two miles west of Lewiston. Following the death of the father, the mother and children moved to the Hillers farm southwest of Lewiston where the mother passed away. The children continued farm operations a few years, but the brother, were mechanically inclined and the farm was sold and a residence erected in Lewiston, where the brothers, George and John, built a building and started the first garage in the village. The partnership was dissolved when George disposed of his interests to his brother, who continued the business for a few years, or until he began to operate the county m a i n t a i n er out of Lewiston, which he continued u n t il f a i l i ng health caused him to retire. He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers and two sisters, and leaves to mourn his departure his wife, Mary; two sisters, Mrs. Kate Crawford of Violet, and Miss Rose Hillers of Lewiston; one brother, George Hillers of Lewiston; four niece, and two nephews. When a young man he accepted Christ as his Saviour and united with the Baptist church at Lewiston. , Funeral services were held at the Methodist church in Lewiston Monday afternoon, August 18, conducted by the pastor, Rev. Charles Catlett, and interment was in the Lewiston cemetery. The pallbearers were C. M. Clark, W. D. Dinnis, Will Myers, Clyde Menzingo, Walter Phelan and John Searcey.
