Schultz Emma Caroline Hiller was born at Pickrell, Nebraska on 9 Apr 1887 and passed away from this life in the Pawnee Hospital on 16 Dec 1941 at the age of 54 years, 8 months, 8 days. She came to the Lewiston neighborhood with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. George J. Hiller, in April 1901 and has resided near that place until her death. On March 2, 1910, she was united in marriage to Joseph C. Schultz, of Lewiston, at Pawnee City. (The ceremony was performed by the County Judge, F. A. Barton.) To this union were born three children: a son who died in infancy and two daughters. She was taken seriously ill on Sunday evening, December 1, and was taken to the Pawnee Hospital early in the morning of December 9th. All the medical science and loving, tender care could do was to relieve her sufferings. Mrs. Schultz was a woman of fine character. She lived an active life, her chief aim being the making of an ideal home for her husband and daughters. In 1914 she accepted Christ as her personal savior during a series of revival services at the M. E. Church in Lewiston and remained faithful to the cause of her Master until she was called up higher, always bearing her trials, burdens, pains, and sufferings without a murmur. She was of a cheerful disposition, a loving wife and mother, a kind friend, and a good neighbor always willing to lend a hand when her services were in need. She was preceded in death by her father on December 16, 1903, her mother on August 17, 1913, by her son, Joseph Gilbert, by two brothers, a sister, and a grand-daughter, Kathryn Snider. She is survived by her husband, two daughters: Mrs. Elizabeth White of Lewiston and Mrs. Robert Snider of Filley; three grand-daughters: Roberta Jo Snider and Carolyn Verda and Fayetta Mae White; two brothers: John H. and George J. Hiller of Lewiston; two sisters: Mrs. Edwin Crawford of Violet and Miss Rosa C. Hiller of Lewiston; two nephews: Wendel G. and Cleo D. Hiller of Lewiston; two nieces: Mrs. Leonard Martin and Miss Twila K. Hiller of Lewiston; two son-in-laws: Robert Snider and John E. White; and a large circle of friends. Funeral services were held Thursday afternoon at the M. E. Church in Lewiston with the Rev. Catlett, pastor, in charge. Burial was in the Lewiston Cemetery.
