Morgan, aged seventy years, whose death was caused by carbon monoxide here Monday, January 17, was held from his residence Wednesday afternoon, January 19. Mr. Morgan started his automobile Monday morning with the doors of the garage closed and was found dead by the side of the car two hours later when a neighbor heard the engine of the car and went to investigate. He is survived by a daughter, Mrs. Albert Smith of Superior, and a son, Albert Morgan, of Moscow, Idaho, both of whom were here for the funeral. ************************************************ The following is from the Nebraska Signal January 20th 1927, page 1: MORGAN, JOHN HENRY—John Henry Morgan was born in Jefferson county, Indiana, September 21, 1856. He died at his home in Geneva, Neb., January 15, 1927, aged 70 years 3 months and 25 days. Mr. Morgan was married December 23, 1875, to Samantha Phillips, who passed away September 18, 1926. Two children came to their home, Albert Virgil of Moscow, Idaho, and Mrs. Jessie Smith of Superior, Neb. Six grandchildren are living. One sister is living in Madison, Ind., and a sister and a brother reside in California. The family came to Fillmore county in the fall of 1880 and three years later moved to the farm in Chelsea township that Mr. Morgan purchased and made his home until the family moved to Geneva. Mr. Morgan took a keen interest in public affairs. He was a man of high ideals and upright character. He was a particularly fine neighbor, kindly and considerate in his dealings with others and was highly esteemed by all with whom he was acquainted. The funeral took place from the family home at 2:30 p. m. yesterday, and was conducted by Rev. J. A. Beattie of Bethany, a former pastor of the Geneva Christian church. Interment was in the Geneva cemetery.
