Description	:	"BROADUS -- Services for John Henry Straiton, 56, and his wife, Ladene Margaret, 46, will be held at 2 p.m. Monday in the Congregational Church with burial in the Valley View Cemetery. They died Tuesday after an apparent double homicide. She was born May 25, 1926, in Dove Creek, Colo. [sic], the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Holmes. She graduated from high school there, and in 1943 the family moved to Kingman, Ariz., where she was married to John H. Straiton in 1947. She graduated from high school there, and in 1943 the family moved to Kingman, Ariz., where she was married to John H. Straiton in 1947. He was born Sept. 12, 1916, in Powder River County, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Bert Straiton. The family moved into Broadus in 1919, where he graduated from high school in 1935. He entered the service in 1937 and served in the China-Burma-India Theater during World War II. He was discharged in 1945. The couple moved to Broadus in 1948, where he was the owner of an insurance agency founded by his father. He was also in real estate and an investment broker and at one time was county clerk of court for seven years. He was a member of the VFW, past master of the Masonic Lodge, a member of the Eastern Star, Congregational Church, the Powder River Volunteer Fire Department and the Rifleman Club. She was a member of the Eastern Star, former 4-H leader and past member of the VFW Auxiliary. Surviving the couple are two daughters, Peggy Joan, a student at MSU, and Rita Lynn of Broadus. Mrs. Straiton is survived by a brother and two sisters. Mr. Straiton is survived by a brother." The Billings Gazette, January 7, 1973
