Read More	son of Aleck and Nancy Thompson wed 11 Apr 1884 Nancy Ann Bales Obituary John Henry Thompson was born Feb. 23, 1865 in Greene Co., Tenn. died Nov. 24, 1952 at the age of 87 years, 9 months and 1 day at the home of his daughter, Mrs Arlo Prigga of Page Co., IA, He was the son of Alexander and Nancy Ann Thompson and one of a family of nine children, all of whom preceded him in death except one brother, Jackson of Clarinda. He grew to manhood in Tennessee and was married to Nancy Ann Bales April 11, 1884, they with their family came to Iowa in 1902 and farmed until 1942. They then moved to town and lived there until his wife died Aug. 30, 1951. He then moved to the home of his daughter. Eight children were born to them; James Thompson of Sonoma, Calif., Bessie Hazelton and Stella Prigga of Clarinda, Aubrey Thompson of Gravity, and Ernest Thompson and Jessie Peterman of New Market, Jennie and Aleck Thompson preceded him in death. He professed faith in Christ in early life and joined the United Brethren church, He was a kind and loving father and loved by all who knew him. He also leaves to mourn their loss 18 grandchildren, 22 great grandchildren, 1 great great grand-child and a host of friends and neighbors. The funeral service was at the Methodist church in New Market, IA.. the burial in Old Memory Cemetery just west of New Market.
