Description	:	John Werth was born August 10, 1886 at Minden and departed this life at 9:45 a.m. on December 4, 1946 following a heart attack. He was the son of a Kearney county pioneer family Fred and Sophia Werth. All of his life he lived on a farm near Minden except for a short time when his parents and he with them moved to Oregon and California. Read More	John Werth was born August 10, 1886 at Minden and departed this life at 9:45 a.m. on December 4, 1946 following a heart attack. He was the son of a Kearney county pioneer family Fred and Sophia Werth. All of his life he lived on a farm near Minden except for a short time when his parents and he with them moved to Oregon and California. On January 21, 1914 he was united in marriage to Carolyn Berndt. To this union were born three children, Rosamond, Winifred and John. He was baptized and confirmed in St Paul's Lutheran Church at Minden. Throughout his life he remained an active member. To him were intrusted at various times the offices of Trustee, Elder and Chairman of the Congregation. At the time of his sudden death he was Chairman and President of the Congregation. He was very much interested in working toward a new church for St Paul's and in recent years he made this his greatest ambition and for this goal he worked with untiring zeal. He leaves to mourn his departure his grief-stricken wife, Carolyn, two daughters, Mrs Rosamond Jorgensen and Mrs Winifred Felzien of Minden and son, John Werth of Los Angeles. He was a devoted husband, a kind and loving father, a good neighbor, a faithful church-member and a proud and loving grandfather to this three grandchildren, Boyd and Kent Felzien and Nelda Jorgensen. Other members of the immediate family are brothers Fred and George Werth of Minden; sisters Martha Werth, Elisabeth Werth, Mrs Ida Hansen and Mrs Anna Stout. At the time of his death he was 60 years old, three months and 24 days. Funeral services were held Sunday at St Paul's Lutheran Church in charge of Rev M Schabacker, committal at the Minden cemetery. Besides the many beautiful floral tributes, tokens of high esteem, various amounts in money were contributed in the form of Memorial Wreaths for the building fund of St Paul's new church. Rev 14:13. "I heard a voice from heaven saying, "Write: Blessed are the dead which die in the Lord."
