She was born April 28, 1919, east of Minden to John and Caroline (Berndt) Werth. On Jan. 5, 1941, she married Kermit Felzien. He died in 2006. Survivors include her son, Kent and his wife, Diana, of Hot Springs Village, Ark.; daughter, Joy Phillips and her husband, Don, of Minden; grandchildren, Drew Felzien and his wife, Raquel, John Felzien, and his fiancée, Jennifer Scheckler, Megan Nelson and her husband, John, Chris Felzien, Paige Brewer and her husband, David, Cole Phillips and Sydney Phillips; great-grandchildren, Karsen and Alec Felzien, Kallie Felzien and Elizabeth and Graham Nelson; sister-in-law, Eddie Werth of Long Beach, Calif.; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She was baptized and confirmed in the Christian faith. She attended elementary school at District 45 and graduated from Minden High School in 1937. She attended Kearney State Teachers College and then taught in Kearney County at District 1 and also District 45. She and her husband moved to California. They resided in California until 1943 when her husband was drafted into the U.S. Army during World War II. During the war, she and her children lived with her parents in Minden while her husband was in Europe in the armed forces. After the war, the family returned to California, then back to Nebraska in 1946 to farm in the Minden area. They retired in 1979 and moved into Minden. She was proud to have received, along with her family, the Pioneer Farm Award from Ak-Sar-Ben for 100 years of continuous farm family ownership. She was a member of Westminster United Presbyterian Church in Minden and taught Sunday school and youth club at the church. She enjoyed fellowship with her friends in Minden. She was active in various clubs and organization in the Minden area. She enjoyed traveling, fishing, reading and baby-sitting. The couple enjoyed spending their winters in Mesa, Ariz., from 1982 until 1997. She loved her family dearly. She was completely devoted to them. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her son, Boyd Felzien; daughter-in-law, Maxine; brother, John Werth; and sister, Rosamond Jorgensen.
