Husband of Betty P Holdeman Buller Survivors include sister-in-law Della Buller of California; sister, Mary Janzen of Wichita; sons Steve and wife Connie Buller of Blair, Neb., and Gary and wife Judy Buller of Hot Springs, Ark.; many nieces & nephews; and five grandchildren. He knew how to operate every piece of construction equipment at the Harvey County Highway Dept. where he served for over 25 years ... much of which he spent as foreman of the bridge construction crew (the biggest was the McClain Bridge ~ SE of Newton). ~~~ World War II veteran: Rocket man (launcher) & Marksman...but, he never spoke much about WWII or his duty in Okinawa, though we found several service ribbons on his old Army uniform after Betty passed away. ~~~ He worked for the county, building bridges and maintaining roads & signs. He enjoyed fishing and hunting, but taught his boys to never shoot at anything they didn't intend to eat. When he caught turtles or carp, he would remember which of his friends and family liked to eat those delicacies, and gave the 'item' away to them. He enjoyed playing cards and dice (not for money) and was a very good player. He used to enjoy bowling and horseshoes, but when he got struck by lightning while standing on the operations deck of an asphalt machine, his finger went numb and, while he couldn't bowl or throw horseshoes any more, he gave public thanks in church to God for sparing his life. Any time spent with Betty, children or grandchildren was especially enjoyable to him. Memorials have been established with the Kansas Christian Home & Salem United Methodist Church.
