He had been making his home with his son, Clarence, since his illness. Born February 22, 1865 in Reepsholt, Germany, he was a son of Heike and Marie Viemers Heyen. He migrated to America at the age of 17 and on Dec. 23,1894 was married to Matilda Scheer. Mr. and Mrs. Heyen were in business in Langworthy for more than 30 years and on retiring, his son Clarence became the proprietor. Mr. Heyen was preceded in death by his wife in 1948. He is survived by one daughter, Mrs. Mary Bennet of Santa Monica, Calif., and three sons, Clarence, Langworthy, Henry of Chicago, and Dr. H. C. Heyen of El Paso, Texas. Also surviving are one sister, Mrs. Gesine Balster, Scotch Grove, four grandchildren and three great grandchildren. Funeral services were held Saturday afternoon at 2 o'clock at the St. John's Lutheran church with the Rev. Theodore Rottmann in charge of the services. Interment was made at the St. John's cemetery. Pallbearers included John Doden, John D. Poppe,, Gerd Poppe, George Schafer, Gerke Hanken and G. A. Ommen.
