Description	:	The Nelson Gazette (Nelson, NE), Thursday, March 7, 1929; pg. 7 John Hoelting, Sr., one of the pioneers of the vicinity, passed away at his home at St. Stephens at 3:30 o'clock Saturday afternoon at the age of 75 years and 4 months. On November 23, 1875, he was married to Miss Elizabeth Fraune at Ft. Madison and in 1879 they moved to Nebraska where he was engaged in farming until thirteen years ago. When retiring to the home at St. Stephens. He is survived by the widow and nine children, Henry Hoelting, Mrs. G. Binzegger, Mrs. F.J. Brockman and Mrs. John Pohlmeier of Nazereth, Texas; Steve Hoelting, Des Moines, Iowa; C.J. Hoelting, Wm. Hoelting, Miss Lent (sic) Hoelting and Mrs. Lawrence Ostdiek of Lawrence; by one sister, Miss Mary Hoelting of Templeton, Iowa; one brother, Steve Hoelting of Lawrence; and by sixty grand children and ten great grand children. All the children came hre (sic) for he (sic) funeral except Mrs. Binzegger. The funeral service was held at St. Stephens Tuesday morning with interment in the St. Stephens Cemetery. - Lawrence Locomotive. ============================= This was published in the West Point Bee's Remember When column, West Point, Lee County, Iowa, in the month of March, 1974. Forty-five Years Ago March 7, 1929 John Hoelting, a pioneer of Lee County, passed away at St. Stephen's Nebraska, February 23. Mr. Hoelting was born in Ft. Madison, Iowa, October 25, 1854. On November 23, 1875, he was married to Miss Elizabeth Fraune at Ft Madison and in 1879 moved to Nebraska.
