Description	:	Last Wednesday evening, as the freight train pulled in from the west, Mr. Tullis, foreman on section No. 224, tried to climb on the engine as it passed along the platform at the depot. He missed his foothold but held on with his hands until he struck some freight that had been placed near the edge of the platform and was thrown under the wheels of a freight car. He missed his foothold but held on with his hands until he struck some freight that had been placed near the edge of the platform and was thrown under the wheels of a freight car. His right arm was horribly mashed near the shoulder and a large part of the flesh on the right leg was severed from the bone. Dr. Morgan, the R.R. Company's physician, was immediately sent for and had him placed on a stretcher and carried to the marshal's office, where he suffered untold misery until 1:30 o'clock Thursday morning when he died. His wife was at once telegraphed for and arrived Thursday morning from Solomon City. She was in destitute circumstances and a subscription was taken for her relief, which amounted to $41. Before Mr. Tullis died he warned his friends against the use of intoxicating liquors, giving as a reason that it had caused the accident.
