Central City Nonpareil, Thursday, February 14, 1935 FUNERAL OF JOHN I WILLIS TO BE HELD FRIDAY John I Willis, 58, resident of Marquette succumbed Wednesday morning at 2:30 o'clock at his home. He is survived by his wife and children. Funeral services will be held Friday afternoon at the United Brethern Church in Marquette at 2:30 o'clock, with Rev Walter S Henry of Clay Center officiating. Interment will be made in Richland cemetery south of Marquette. Central City Republican, Thursday, February 14, 1935 JOHN WILLIS This community was saddened last Wednesday when they learned of the death of John Willis which occurred at his home in Marquette. His last few days in this life were spent in intense suffering, but at 2:30 o'clock Wednesday morning he quietly left for his Eternal home. John Ira Willis, youngest son of Parcels and Sarah Willis, was born on the farm west of Marquette April 18, 1877, and died at his home here February 13, 1935, at the ge of 57 years, 10 months and 5 days. He was married to Louise Satory in 1902 at Aurora. To this union were born five children, three daughters and two sons. Two infant daughters have preceded him in death. He leaves to mourn his loss a loving wife, two sons and one daughter: Louis Danford of Central City, Claude Chester and Mrs Goodwin Petersen of Marquette and one grandson, Billy Dean, also two brothers, Homer of Plattsmouth, Neb., Will of Stockton, Cal.; and one sister, Mrs S A Wilson of Lincoln, besides several nieces and nephews and other relatives and a host of friends. His mother and father, two sisters, Mrs C B Jones and Mrs Harriet Ostbloom and one brother, Danford, have preceded him in death several years ago. He was about ten years of age when he was baptized and joined the United Brethren church at Marquette. With the exception of nine months spent in York county on a farm his entire life was spent in Hamilton county. Mr Willis was always a kind and loving husband and father, a true friend, always ready and willing to help whenever and wherever he could. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him. Funeral services were held Friday at the United Brethren church with Rev W S Henry of Clay Center officiating. The pallbearers were the Black brothers of Giltner, Walse Hixon, Lyman Hiscock, Victor Johnson and Peter Larsen, Jr. Burial was made in the Richland Cemetery.
