Mrs Willis has a number of relatives in this community and a very large number of friends. She and her husband were pioneers in Hamilton county, long making their home on their farm located one mile west of Marquette. The obituary of the deceased follows: Sarah Jane Shriner was born in Pickaway county, Ohio on March 11, 1842 and died in Lincoln, Nebraska on May 24, 1922 at the age of 80 years, 2 months and 13 days. At the age of 20 she was joined in marriage with Parcles Willis near McCarthy, Ohio. Mr Willis went away the following day to serve his country in the great Civil war. Forty-eight years ago they came to the state of Nebraska and settled on a tract of land located one mile west of where the town of Marquette now lies. They later sold their farm and moved to Marquette, where they resided until the husband's death on January 13, 1913. Early in life she was converted and joined the Methodist church. After coming to Nebraska she joined the first United Brethren class organized in Hamilton county, which met in the Adams school house near Marquette. She later joined the Richland church, finally transferring her membership to Marquette, where she came in as a charter member. Here she retained her membership to the time of her death. Seven children were born, five of whom are still living: Homer of Aurora, Will of Denver, Colo., John of Hampton, Mrs Maggie Wilson, Lincoln, and Mrs Hattie Ostbloom of Wildhorse, Colo. There are twenty-two grand children and six great grand-children. Besides these, there are other relatives and a host of friends who are left to mourn her loss. Funeral services were held Saturday morning at 11:00 o'clock at the United Brethren church of Marquette, Rev Sneider of Lincoln in charge. A mixed double quartette of the U B church furnished the music. Following the service at the church, interment was made in the Richland cemetery.
