Description	:	John, 94, passed away at 10:15 a.m., at his home. He was the son of John W. and Vivian A. (Dixon) Baber. On Aug 18, 1947, he married Lois L. Bastian, who preceded him in death. Surviving are a daughter, Beth B. (Thomas) Sanders, Lima; two sisters: Oletha (Henry) I. Zaborniak, North Baltimore, OH, and Ploma L. (Charles) Arnett, Lima; a brother in-law, Forrest Weaver, Cridersville; and five grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren. (Walter) Lange, Carolyn J. (Robert) Place, Magdelena (Fred) Kimpel and Walthea Z Helser. Serving in the US Army Infantry during WWII, from 1943 to 1946, he was stationed in Japan and the Phillipines, with the 32nd Division, 26 Regiment, Company E. During the War he earned a Purple Heart and a Bronze Battle Star. He was a member of the Ohio Operating Engineers Union and worked with Tuttle Construction Co. for many years retiring in 1983. He was a member of the Trinity United Methodist Church. Some of his hobbies included gardening and woodworking. He also loved to travel with his wife. Funeral services will be at Chiles-Laman Funeral and Cremation Services, Shawnee Chapel, with Rev. David Harris officiating. Burial will be in the Shawnee Cemetery following the service.
