(Jack) O'Grady announces his passing on Sunday, January 3, 2016, at the age of 95. He was attended by his family at the time of his death. He is survived by his daughter Kathleen O'Grady and his son Patrick O'Grady both of Colorado; two grandchildren Erin Bradley and Sean O'Grady, and two great grandchildren, Caleb and Caitlin Bradley. Jack was born on March 5, 1920 in Albuquerque, New Mexico. He attended the University of New Mexico and the University of Maryland. He married Jo Ann Hunn of Loveland, CO in 1945. She preceded him in death in 2007. Jack joined the United States Army in 1942 serving his country through World War II and Korea. During World War II he served with the Historical Unit of the Ninth United States Army assigned to the 84th Infantry Division, and with the 5th Armored Division on the drive from the Rhine to the Elbe River. After World War II, a lieutenant colonel, he was information officer for the army in Puerto Rico, the Inter-American Defense Board in Washington, D.C., and for the Military District of Washington. In 1955 Jack was information officer for the Eight Army, United Nations Command in Korea. Later he became Chief of the the New York branch, U.S. Army Information Office. After his service to the country, the family moved to Denver where he began working for the Office of Civil Defense. He retired as the Director of Field Services of the Office of Civil Defense (FEMA) region in Denver, CO with over 37 years of federal service. Jack's life was one of service. Service to his country and to his family. He shall be greatly missed by his family and many that knew him. Cremation has been completed, and a private family graveside inurnment will take place. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the Wounded Warrior Project, or the Doctors without Borders in care of Kibbey-Fishburn Funeral Home, 1102 N. Lincoln Avenue, Loveland, CO 80537
