Description	:	aged 85y 1m 14d son of Daniel Kemp and Barbara Kettner Gaucher Kemp grandson of Mattheis Kaempffer (immigrant from Germany) and Maria Magdalena Reimer John came to Ohio in 1805 and built a house on the western bank of the Miami River. He met Elizabeth when she and her family also moved to Ohio in 1806. John had a limited education and spoke initially only German.
