April 14, 1965 DIED KUSH--John Kush, 71, Genoa, Nebr., was born September 1st, 1893, at Shelby, Nebraska, the son of Louis and Margaret Bogus Kush. He received his education in Polk County, Nebraska, where his parents were engaged in farming. October 18, 1931, he was married to Mary Czarnick at Krakow, at Ss. Peter and Paul Catholic Church. To this union six sons, and two daughters were born, six of whom survive. He is survived by his wife, Mary; four sons, Louis of Monroe; Alphonse of David City; Leonard at home; and Ray of Columbus; two daughters, Mrs. Don (Rita) Osulfka, Columbus, and Mrs. Edward (Betty) Zakrzewski of Genoa; also twenty grand children. Two sons, his parents, three brothers and two sisters preceded him in death. He is survived by two sisters, Mrs. Charles Prorok, St. Edward; and Mrs. Edmund Vetick of Silver Creek; one brother, Tom Kush of Fullerton. Funeral services were held Monday, April 19, at 9 o'clock from St. Peter and Paul Catholic church with the Rev. Father Flisak officiating. Burial was in the Krakow Catholic cemetery. The Genoa American Legion Post conducted military services at the grave side. Color guard members were Wally Bosak, Boyd Snyder, Melvin Fox and Willard Krause. Firing squad were Henry Syslo, Donal Bayne, Jake Jernbert, Frank Pickett, Kenneth Reeg, Bill Parry, Victor Mark, and Allen Irish. Pallbearers were Virgil Prorok, Bennie Kush, Frank Vetick, Gary Ziemba, Theo Prorok and Joe Galus.--[submitted by Marge Galus Sandlier--no relationship to deceased] WW I Veteran
