Description	:	The sudden death of John L. Harvey, one of Seward's most highly esteemed citizens, which occurred at an early hour Sunday morning, was a shock to his family and friends. Mr. Harvey was uptown after 9 o'clock Saturday evening, but was not feeling well. After returning home he could not rest, and got up and dressed himself and laid down on the lounge, telling Mrs. Harvey that he felt better, and for her to retire, which she did. Mrs. Harvey went to the room where Mr. Harvey had laid down the night before, at about 5 a.m., and found him apparently lifeless. A doctor and some of the neighbors were summoned, but he had passed away before the arrival of the doctor, the cause being heart trouble. John L. Harvey was born February 3, 1849, at Muscatine, Iowa, and died at his home in Seward, February 16, 1908, aged 59 years. Mr. Harvey was married to Miss Jennie Thompson at Letts, Iowa, May 14, 1872. He then engaged in the mercantile business with his brother, W. C. Harvey, at Letts, Iowa, for a number of years. He moved with his family to Marne, Iowa in 1878, where he and his brother continued in the mercantile business for a number of years. He was also postmaster for eight years at Marne. In June of 1888 he and his family came to Seward, where he has made his home ever since. When he first came to Seward he was in the employ of Doggett, Basset & Hill of Chicago, as traveling salesman, but later took a position with the Inter-state Rubber Co. of Omaha, for which firm he has traveled for the past fifteen years. Mr. Harvey leaves a wife and four sons, four grandchildren, father, mother, four brothers and three sisters, and many other relatives, with whom he was a great favorite, and many friends to mourn his loss. Funeral services will be conducted from his late home Thursday afternoon at 2 o'clock. Rev. Gleason of the Congregational church will conduct the service, assisted by Rev. George Williams of the Presbyterian church. The Masonic lodge of Seward will have charge of the services at the grave. Mr. Harvey was also a member of the A.O.U.W. lodge and the Commercial Club, the members of which will attend the service in a body. Mr. Harvey was mayor of Seward at one time. The following relatives from out of town will attend the funeral: Mr. and Mrs. S. C. Harvey, father and mother of the deceased; his sons, George, Howard and Glen, Mr. and Mrs. E. E. Harvey, S. S. Smith, Miss Edith Agnew, W. C. Harvey and wife, Marne, Iowa; W. S. Harvey, Z. T. Lindsey, Mr. and Mrs. E. M. Taylor and children, and a number of Mr. Harvey's business associates.
