Hanisch was born July 20, 1946, in Sioux Falls, SD, to John and Florence (Even) Hanisch. He graduated from Washington High School. On November 17, 1964, he was united in marriage with Sharon Ehde. Hanisch was born July 20, 1946, in Sioux Falls, SD, to John and Florence (Even) Hanisch. He graduated from Washington High School. On November 17, 1964, he was united in marriage with Sharon Ehde. Jack entered military service in 1966, serving with the US Army. Following his discharge, he began his 38-year career with Sunshine Foods, as Meat Department Manager. After working at several Sunshine locations, he retired in 2000. Following his retirement, he and Sharon enjoyed a trip to Lake Havasu City, Arizona. They also took trips to California, Wisconsin and Minnesota to visit relatives. Jack liked woodworking, finishing furniture, and as a handy-man, could fix almost anything. He also enjoyed doing lawn work. The couple were both good cooks, and liked hosting and attending family functions. As Sharon's health declined, Jack became a loving and tender care taker. She preceded him in death on June 30, 2010. Following her death, Jack's health also began to decline. Even in his own failing health, he purchased a Harley-Davidson motorcycle and then later on, a Harley trike. He loved riding with his friends from Active Generations. Grateful for having shared his life are his sons, Grant Hanisch (Karen), Sioux Falls SD, Kyle Hanisch (Amy), Harrisburg, SD; eight grandchildren; one great-grandchild; his brother, Don Hanisch (Rochelle), Sioux Falls, SD; sister, Kay Adkins, Sioux Falls, SD; sister-in-law, Mary Lou Savold, Sioux Falls, SD; and many other relatives and friends. In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by a son, Kevin; five brothers, Bob, Jim, Dick, Ray and Terry; and three sisters, Carol Keller, Shirley Badker and Deb Peterson. Funeral Services will be held 1:00pm Wednesday, October 18, 2018, at Miller Funeral Home, 507 S. Main Avenue, with committal services at Hills of Rest following a reception. The family will be present to greet friends from 5:00 to 7:00 Tuesday evening at the funeral home. - Miller Funeral Home
