Description	:	Jack L. Nowak, 91 of Greeley died Wednesday, Sept. 29, 2010, at the Greeley Care Home. Jack was born June 10, 1919, at Brayton to Lester and Genevieve (Whalen) Nowak. On April 12, 1948, he was united in marriage to Delores Ann Jurzenski at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Greeley. He was preceded in death by a son, John. Read More	Jack L. Nowak, 91 of Greeley died Wednesday, Sept. 29, 2010, at the Greeley Care Home. Jack was born June 10, 1919, at Brayton to Lester and Genevieve (Whalen) Nowak. On April 12, 1948, he was united in marriage to Delores Ann Jurzenski at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Greeley. He was preceded in death by a son, John. Survivors are: his wife, Delores of Greeley; sons and daughters-in-law, Bill and Margie of Lincoln, Mike and Lea Anne of Grand Island and Tom and Regena of Greeley; daughters and three sons-in-law, Mary and Frank Stepanek of St. Paul, Patty and Bill Paxton of Superior, Ann Nowak of Greeley and Karen and Frank Kuta of St. Libory; 19 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren and a host of friends and relatives. Jack graduated from Greeley Sacred Heart School in 1937. From 1941-1946, Jack served in the United States Army as a Staff Sergeant in the 55th Field Artillery Battalion. He was stationed in New Guinea and the Philippines during World War II. In January of 1950, he was elected as the Greeley County Assessor, a position he held for over 40 years, retiring in 1990. Jack was a member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus and had served as Secretary for many years, American Legion, VFW and Greeley Fire Department. Jack loved baseball and enjoyed all sports. He won the Golden Gloves at the age of 19 and continued to coach boxing to area youth. His biggest enjoyment was attending his family's sporting events and activities. His family meant the world to him. He was also preceded in death by his parents; a great-granddaughter, Marie; one brother, Thomas Nowak and two sisters, Marguerite Rinehart and Agatha Tarbox.
