Description	:	John Lloyd “J.L.” Axsom Jr., 68, of Buchanan Drive, Eden, N.C., died Sunday, June 28, 2009, at Morehead Memorial Hospital. He was born in Draper, N.C., on Nov. 26, 1940, to John Lloyd Axsom and Mildred Thompson Martin. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Norma Axsom Zanetti, and a grandson, Andrew “Blake” Clark. He was retired from Fieldcrest Mills with 15 years service and was a truck driver for 38 years. He was a member of Lone Oak Baptist Church in Axton, and he was an army veteran. Surviving are his wife of 49 years, Shelby Barker Axsom of the home; a daughter, Rhonda Axsom Huff of Pfafftown, N.C.; a son, John Axsom of Gray Court, S.C.; his stepfather, Lonzie Martin of Stuart; and two grandsons. The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Fair Funeral Home Chapel in Eden with burial to be at Ridgeview Memorial Garden.
