Description	:	Well Known Man Dead "John Brown[,] a familiar figure around Ames for many years[,] died Monday evening of paralsis [sic]. He was about 70 years old and made his home with his daughter, Mrs. Susan Pierce on South Lincoln Street. He had been connected with the Lanning Mills for some time as a delivery man and seemed to be in his usual health Monday, doing his usual work. Peterson Ballard, Brown's great-granddaughter extracted the notice from microfilm of a 1908 Ames, Iowa newspaper. The image of the typed page was posted by trish1861. Aged Citizen Passed Away "John Brown, an aged resident of this city, passed away at the home of his daughter Mrs. Susan Pierce on S. Lincoln street Tuesday morning at 7 o'clock, death resulting from a stroke of paralysis whch [sic] he suffered on the previous evening. Mr. Brown had been acting as deliveryman for the Ames Feed Mill and had been in his usual health on the day he was taken sick. He went home from work and partook of a hearty supper after which he went out into the door yard to cut some kindling for the fire. Before re-entering the house he was stricken with paralysis and called to his daughter who assisted him to his couch. A physician was called and he was made as comfortable as possible until he passed away the morning following."
