Description	:	OBIT: J. M. (Jack) Galvin, for nearly half century well known in Ellensburg and the Kittitas Valley, died in a hospital at Kirkland this morning of a heart attack. He had been in the hospital only two days. He was chief of police here some 30 years ago under the late Mayor Craig. He operated a service station at Third Avenue and Main Street for many years. (Jack) Galvin, for nearly half century well known in Ellensburg and the Kittitas Valley, died in a hospital at Kirkland this morning of a heart attack. He had been in the hospital only two days. He was chief of police here some 30 years ago under the late Mayor Craig. He operated a service station at Third Avenue and Main Street for many years. He came here as a boy in 1892 and was married to Nettie Olding, October 14, 1902. She survives him. There are no children. He is believed to have one brother living. Mrs. Galvin has many relatives in the valley. He left here in the Gold Rush for Alaska but made his home here again on his return until he retired in the 30s. He and Mrs. Galvin had a home at Juanita where they had lived ever since. He was active in the Republican Party here. The funeral will be held Tuesday morning at 10:30 o'clock at Green's Funeral Home in Kirkland. There will be graveside services at the IOOF Cemetery in Ellensburg that afternoon at 3 o'clock. The Rev. Edward Birch of Grace Episcopal Church will officiate. Ellensburg Daily Record, July 19, 1952
