Description	:	John M. Upton VI, age 86, of York, died in Omaha on Wednesday, August 4, 2010 after fighting a courageous battle with melanoma cancer. Born July 21, 1924 in rural Adams to John M. Upton V and Alice Robb. John attended Adams High School and graduated in 1942. Following graduation John traveled to Buffalo, New York where he was employed by Bell Aircraft Company. Following his return to Nebraska, he married Dorothy Heusman of Sterling and to this union a daughter Margaret was born. John attended Adams High School and graduated in 1942. Following graduation John traveled to Buffalo, New York where he was employed by Bell Aircraft Company. Following his return to Nebraska, he married Dorothy Heusman of Sterling and to this union a daughter Margaret was born. John and Dorothy were lifelong farmers near Crab Orchard, Weston and most currently, York. John had a passion for his Angus Association and the American Quarter Horse Association. John was a kind and loving husband, father, grandfather and friend. Survivors include his wife Dorothy of York; daughter, Margaret L. "Peg" Reynolds and Orville Jones III of Lincoln; sister, Marjorie Gottula of Fremont; brother, Arnold Upton of Weeping Water; sister-in-law, Rosemary Upton of Lincoln; grandchildren, Sandra Reynolds of Taos, N.M.; Kathryn and husband John Connelley of Gretna; Joshua Reynolds of York and Molly Reynolds of Omaha; great-grandchildren, Emma and Sam Connelley children of Kathryn and John; Gabrielle and Amaya Garrett children of Molly Reynolds; numerous sisters and brothers-in-law, nieces and nephews and namesakes John Upton of Phoenix and John Upton of Omaha; life long friends, Merlin and Colleen Ehmen of Fairmont; Don and Donna Happel of North Bend. He was preceded in death by his parents, sister Dixie, brothers: Hubert and Wilbur. A Celebration of Life service will be held at St. Mark's United Methodist Church located at 84th and Pioneers in Lincoln on Tuesday, August 10, 2010 at 3 p.m. Cremation. No visitation. Interment of ashes will be at Highland Cemetery in Adams at a later date. Memorials may be given to the family for a later designation. Online condolences may be sent to www.wyuka.com.
