Duncan was held to the grand jury without bond. The victim of this tragedy was buried in the Grand Junction cemetery last Friday. Mr. Zellhoefer had been running a successful weekly at LeRoy, and had a prominent part in activities against the saloons there, haying always had strong convictions on the subject. On the day of the murder Duncan met Zellhoefer on the street, provoked a heated discussion and then drew gun and shot and instantly killed his victim. He had been threatening for long time past to "get Zellhoefer" but had never been taken very seriously. THE SOUVENIR - Saturday, July 28th, 1894 - The young son of Mr. John Zellhoefer, formerly of this place, but now living in Illinois, had the misfortune to have his foot cut off by a mower one day last week. JEFFERSON BEE - Wednesday, January 25th, 1911 - Grandma Zellhoefer, as she was called by her many friends, died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Jas. Blanshan Thursday morning, January 19. About a year ago she had a paralytic stroke and has since been failing gradually till the end, which came very peacefully. Fredericka Tartsch was born in Schlesinger, Germany, April 20, 1828. In 1848 she emigrated with her parents to America, locating in Rome, Wisconsin, and during this year was married to George Zellhoefer. To this union were born five sons and six daughters, the father, one son and three daughters having preceded the mother leaving the following to mourn her loss: Mrs. Christina Marquardt, of Des Moines; John Zellhoefer, of LeRoy, Illinois; George, of Colorado; August, of Eagle Grove; Mrs. Emma Harned, of Indianola; Edward, of Hobart, Oklahoma; Mrs. Mary Blanshan, of this place. In 1851 she joined the German Evangelical church and has always proved a zealous, pious and faithful member. In 1872 the family moved near Grand Junction. Mrs. Zellhoefer later moved into town remaining here until about a year ago, when she made her home with her daughter, Mrs. Jas. Blanshan. At the time of her death she was in her 83d year. She leaves many friends who mourn the loss of a sincere friend, and who extend their sympathy to the bereaved family Funeral services were held at the German Evangelical church Saturday afternoon at two o'clock. The children were all present with the exception of George, of Colorado. Others from out of town who attended the funeral were a sister-in-law, Mrs, Paulina Tartsch, her daughter and husband, Mr. and Mrs. Funk, of Carroll, and Miss Eunice Bissell, a granddaughter, of Des Moines.
