Description	:	John was the son of William R. & Alemeda (Martin) Ray. His siblings were James "Ira" & Florence Kathleen "Bella." John was 27 years old when he married Ruby Jewell Jepson, 22, in Toledo, Lewis Co, WA on October 10, 1915. They had one daughter, Janette Pearl Ray, born July 2, 1916. ----- John, age 27, his wife, Ruby, & daughter, were living in Toledo, WA when he registered for the WWI draft on June 5, 1917. On January 24/26, 1920, John M. & Ruby J., ages 31 & 26, were renting a home at Fords Prairie, Lewis Co, WA. John worked at an incubator factory. Their daughter was Pearl Janette, age 3 years & 6 months. On April 21, 1930, John & Ruby, ages 42 & 36, owned a home in Fords Prairie valued at $3000. John had a job at an incubator lab. Their daughter, Janette P, was 13 years old. In March 1935, a shower was given for their daughter, Jeanette, who was to be married to Dale Nugent on March 12. A long description of the event was published in The Centralia Daily Chronicle on Saturday, March 2, 1935. News of her marriage, published in The Centralia Daily Chronicle on Wednesday, March 13, 1935, follows: "Miss Ray Bride of Mayor's Son In the presence of immediate relatives, Miss Pyrle Janette Ray, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John M. Ray of Ford's Prairie, became the bride of Dale Oliver Nugent, son of Dr. and Mrs. Dale O. Nugent of this city, at an impressive ceremony performed at high noon yesterday at the First Christian church personage. Rev. Marriaon McQuary officiated, using the ring service. ... Mr. and Mrs. Nugent left for Seattle and Victoria B.C., where they will spend their honeymoon, after which they will established their new home at 700 South Pearl street. The bride who has been the inspiration of frequent entertaining preceding the wedding, is a charming young girl and was valedictorian of her class when she graduated from the Centralia high school in 1933. ... " John's father died in Toledo on May 13, 1935. On May 2, 1940, John & Ruby, ages 52 & 46, were still living in Fords Prairie. He had a job as a cabinet maker in a factory. John lived in Centralia when he registered for the WWII draft. His mother died in Toledo on December 18, 1945. John died on July 23, 1958. "JOHN M. RAY PASSES AWAY A long-time resident of route 1, Centralia, John Mace Ray, 70, passed away Wednesday at the family home. Born March 24, 1888, in Toledo, he had lived at route l, Centralia, since 1919. He was a member of Toledo lodge No. 83, I O O F. Survivors include his wife, Ruby, J., at home; one daughter Mrs. Larry Brill, Centralia, and two grandchildren. Funeral services will be Friday at 1:30 p.m. at Sticklin's Centralia chapel with the Rev. Glen W. Mell officiating. Interment will follow at Greenwood Memorial park.
